Find out what can be recycled in your community

Food

About 40% of single-use plastics produced are used for food and beverage packaging globally. And, about 85% of plastics end up in landfills or as unregulated waste. You can help decrease this number by researching your community's recycling system to determine what can and cannot be recycled in your area. Take notes on accepted materials, sorting requirements, and any special considerations. Armed with this knowledge, conduct a mini audit of your own food and beverage packaging recycling habits at home or in your workplace to see where you can make improvements. By understanding and following your local recycling system, you'll play a crucial role in reducing contamination and maximizing the impact of recycling efforts in your community.
